About The Pet Insurance Guide 2016

Sally Hayward

Welcome to The Pet Insurance Guide 2016.

Firstly please let me introduce myself.   My name is Sally Hayward and I have three spaniels and a cat!

I have written this Guide to provide fellow pet owners with an independent unbiased source of information about UK pet insurance policies.

But it is important that you understand I am not an insurance professional and I do not sell pet insurance!

I am simply a pet owner who has spent the last 2 years researching pet insurance.   Why?  Because I got frustrated with the amount of time it took me to find the best policies for my own pets.

Choosing a Policy

Making the right choices about pet insurance is important – your pet’s health may depend on the decisions you make!

This Guide aims to provide you with as much information as possible to help you with this choice.

Campaign for Better Pet Insurance

Yet you also need to be aware that many people who have taken great care in selecting their insurance policy have still found it ultimately let them down when they needed it.

This is why I believe that pet insurance in the UK needs to improve – and why this Guide will actively campaign for better pet insurance for all of our pets.

I love all feedback – good and bad – so please do let me know what you think by commenting below.

I hope you find the guide useful!

  1. Really useful information, you should ask Which to take this up as a campaign, it may help to have some weight behind it.
Still stuck with a hard decision whether to pay a £1000 renewal fee on a lifetime policy or risk an ongoing health issue not being covered!:-(

  2. I am finding this guide really useful. I haven’t found a reasonable quote yet though as all the insurers seem to assess my lurcher (who has never been ill in his life) as if he is a very illness-prone pure breed dog.

  3. I can not thank you enough for this website. It has been invaluable to me in choosing Pet Insurance for my two dogs.

  4. It is so nice to find honest and useful information available on your website for pet owners who need support and advise relating to pet insurance.

It’s a minfield out there, one wrong move and you could be facing a huge bill because you were not properly covered or won’t be covered after an injury to your pet or the age.

My dog had a rupture cruciate ligament, 9yrs old and I’m finding it so difficult to find decent cover – they won’t cover his pre existing injury (either indefinitely or for 2 yrs) and I’m sure they’ll find a way to not cover any other injury they feel is linked. I still haven’t found a decent pet insurance without some exclusions or excessive premiums. I feel lost !
